Introducing Fabric By Three

Fabric By Three, a hand-dyed fabric collective in Kapiti, NZ

Fabric by Three is three keen patchwork and quilters who discovered the joys of altering fabric through dyeing and painting, and John (Bobby's husband) who does the administration, carries heavy parcels and tries to prevent this madness from taking over the whole house.

They are located in Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast in New Zealand. Together with another dyer, who has subsequently retired from the company, the team started their interest in dyeing with City & Guilds courses.

Enjoying the achievement of seeing fabric change in their hands, they decided to have regular fabric-making days utilising a wide range of techniques, including dyeing, sun-printing and screen-printing.

Not surprisingly, this resulted in quite a surplus of coloured fabric. A successful stall was had at "Fabrications" a textile market organised by a local quilting guild. This indicated that they were producing fabric that people were interested in buying.

To keep the idea growing they have embarked on this web-site to widen their sales and give an excuse to keep on producing new and varied fabrics.
